Shikakai Shampoo Natural Herbal RecipeShikakai is a natural soap for hair. You may boil it by itself and use on you hair
You can follow my recipe for normal hair. The shampoo is made in three steps. Colorant is cooked. Saponin are added to the colorant and cooked. Lastly, the nutrients are added.
IngredientsPrepare Colorant1. Water: 6 cups 2. Amla powder: 1 Tablespoon 3. Cinnamon: 2 medium size sticks 4. Cloves: 12 Cloves 5. Loose black tea leafs: 2 teaspoons
Add Saponin1. Shikakai powder: 2 Cups Select a good quality powder that has the bark, leaves, and the buds. 2. Reetha: Broken shells from 4 Reetha nuts For more lather, substitute more Shikakai powder with Reetha Shell powder.
Add Nutrients1. Honey: 1 Tablespoon 2. Almond oil: 2 teaspoons 3. Neem Oil: 2 teaspoons Antibacterial for scalp 4. Gotu Kola Extract: ¼ teaspoon
MethodPrepare Colorant1. Mix all the ingredients. Bring to a boil. 2. Turn down heat. Simmer on low for 20 minutes Add Saponin3. Add Shikakai powder and powdered Reetha shells. 4. Bring it to a near boil. Don't boil. Shut off heat. 5. Let it rest 4 hours or overnight. Add Nutrients1. Heat the mixture to a near boil. Don't boil/ Simmer on low heat for 15 minutes. 2. Strain. Discard solids 3. Let it cool to warm. 4. Stir in the nutrients. 5. Let it cool to room temperature. Transfer to bottles with lids. Store in the refrigerator. |
