Home Remedy for itchy skin

Fresh peppermints remain the most effective natural ingredient to relieve skin itch

 

Causes of skin itch vary for various conditions

Allergic reaction

Reaction to natural chemicals (Poison Ivy, Poison oak, Sumac)

Reaction to manmade chemicals (Detergents, Solvents)

Insect bites

Sunburn

Dry skin

Eczema

Pregnancy

 

Home Remedy

Allergic reaction, Reaction to natural chemicals (Poison Ivy, Poison oak, Sumac), Reaction to manmade chemicals (Detergents, Solvents), Insect bites

Grind Fresh peppermint leaves in a little water to make a paste. Apply peppermint paste  to the effected area. The itchiness will go away in about 5 minutes. Repeat 3 times a day. The menthol in the peppermint makes an excellent anti-itching agent.

This works best for itchiness caused as a Reaction to natural chemicals (Poison Ivy, Poison oak, Sumac), and

Reaction to manmade chemicals (Detergents, Solvents).

Do NOT use peppermint oil. Peppermint oil can cause another skin irritation.

 

Dry skin, Eczema, Pregnancy

Aloe Vera: 2 teaspoon

Honey: 1 Tablespoon

Almond oil: 1 teaspoon

Mustard oil: 2 teaspoons

Fresh Peppermint leaf: 8

 

Muddle peppermint leaves with a mortar and pestle. Add remaining ingredients. Make the paste. Store in the refrigerator. Apply on the effected areas as needed.

Itching During Pregnancy

Sometimes, the itching may be a sign of liver abnormality specially during the last trimester. It may also be an indication of other diseases such as kidney, diabetes, thyroids, anemia, etc. You must consult a physician for  persistent itching, rash, and fever.

 

 

Sun burn

Dahi Yogurt: 1 Tablespoon

Honey: 1 Tablespoon

Tomato juice: 1 Tablespoon

Fresh Peppermint leaf: 8

 

Muddle peppermint leaves with a mortar and pestle. Add remaining ingredients. Make the paste. Store in the refrigerator. Apply on the effected areas as needed.
