Will my son grow up to be bald?

A son will be bald if either the father is bald or the father of the mother is bald

Will my son grow up to be bald even if dad is not bald?

Baldness is an autosomal trait. In men its a dominant gene, while recessive for women. A boy needs only one allele to be bald, he can get it from either the father or the mother. The mother inherits the gene from her father and passes it on to son. The girl needs to inherit it from both to parents to be bald.

2. If the baby's grand father (mother's father) is bald, and the baby's father is not bald, there is 50% likelihood of baby grow up to be bald.

3. If the baby's grand father (mother's father) is bald, and the baby's father is bald, there is 75% likelihood of baby grow up to be bald.

4. If the baby's grand father (mother's father) is not bald, and the baby's father is bald, there is 50% likelihood of baby grow up to be bald.

5. If the baby father is bald whose both the parents were bald, there is 100% likelihood of baby grow up to be bald.
