Low fat Chickpea nuts Recipe

These are spiced up crunchy whole chickpeas eaten as nuts for snack. Good for weight-loss program

 

Ingredients

1. Canned Chickpeas: 2 Cups

2. Canola Oil Cooking Spray

 

Dry Spice Mix

3. Sea Salt to taste: ¼ teaspoon
4. Ground Cayenne to taste: ¼ teaspoon

5. Garlic powder: ¼ teaspoon
6. Citric Acid: ¼ teaspoon

 

Method

1. Drain and rinse the Garbanzo beans in a colander. Soak away as much moisture as possible with paper towels.

2. Coat a cookie sheet with l non stick Canola oil cooking spray .

3. Spread beans out in on the cookie sheet in a single layer.

4. Apply a light layer of oil with non stick Canola oil cooking spray .
5. Preheat oven to 450º F. Bake for 10 minutes. Stir and bake for 8 to ten minutes till the beans have turned. The beans should turn slightly brown.

6. Shut off the oven.

7. Mix dry spice mix. Sprinkle over beans while bean are still hot.

8. Let the beans cool

 

Yield: 8 servings

Serving size: ¼ cup

Food group per serving

It can be counted as either ¼ cup of dried beans, or as ½ oz of Nuts
