Fenugreek seed sprouts

Studies have shown that germinated Fenugreek seeds help lower blood glucose levels

They may also help reduce Cholesterol levels. The nutrients reach the optimum level on the 4th day of germination. Sprouting process need not be exposed to indirect or direct sun light, so the sprouts are not green. Instead the sprouts are pale yellow.

The sprouts should not be cooked for more than two minutes to avoid bitter taste.

How to sprout Fenugreek seeds

You can use an ordinary plastic cup used for Pepsi or Coke. You will need a 16oz cup with a lid. Make sure the lid has a few holes. We will sprout 2 Tablespoons of Fenugreek seeds.

Step 1: Wash seeds and transfer to the plastic beverage cup. Add one 1 cup (8oz) of water. Cover with the lid. Let the seeds soak in the water for about 12 hours. The nominal temperature for germination is 70º F.

Step 2:  Drain out water.

Step 3: Rinse with fresh water. Drain out water. Put the lid back on. Repeat this step every 6 to eight hours for four days.

Step 4: After the sprouts have reached the desired length, rinse them thoroughly and drain. Pat dry with paper towel, and store in the refrigerator till needed. The cooler temperature in the refrigerator will stop the germination process.
