Wedding Reception Invitations

Wedding and Wedding Reception invitations in United States differ significantly from those used in India. As a custom in India, the names of all immediate family members are included in the invitation, including the members who have passed on. The passed on members are signified as Late.
The host in United States may be the parents of the bride, parents of the groom, bride and groom themselves, or even a friend

The basic format for wedding, and wedding receptions is shown as follows. Normally, the wedding and the wedding receptions are hosted by the bride's parents. They may also be hosted by Groom's parents, Bride & Groom, or friends. There are two basic formats.
Format A
This is a general format.
Format B
This format may be used by the Bride and Groom to host the event.

Requesting line request the pleasure of your company
Event at the wedding reception of their
Bride & Groom's name daughter Charity to Paul son of
Parents Name Mr. and Mrs. Robert E Brown

Requesting line Request the pleasure of your company
Event at the wedding reception of
Bride & Groom's name Miss Charity Smith to Mr. Paul Brown

Parents name

Parents name should appear as Mr. and Mrs. John D. Smith. If parents are divorced and remarried, name of both the parents should appear, starting with mother's name first (The new married name is in parenthesis).

Requesting line

If the event is taking place at a place of worship, the requesting line should say:
request the honour of your presence. Note the spelling of the word 'honour'. Honour is used even though the normal spelling in United States is honor.


Event

Describe the event, if it is a wedding or a reception.


Bride and Groom's names

Only the first and middle names should be used. If the parent's name is missing, include the last name as shown in Format B.


Date Time & Place

The invitation should always end with the Date & Place.
