Recipe Curried White fish Machhli Tari

In Hindi Machhli is fish, and Tari mean soup style. You can use white fish, Pollack, or catfish.
Ingredients

1. Skinless boneless White fish fillet: 1 ½ Pounds
These fillets are usually ¼ to ½ thick. Wash in cold water and pat dry with paper towels
2. Onions: 2 medium sizes chopped 2 Cups
3. Fresh Garlic cloves: 6 or 1½ Tablespoon of minced garlic
4. Finely chopped ginger: 1 Inch
5. Ghee/Cooking oil: ¼ cup
6. Cumin powder: ½ teaspoon
7. Ground Coriander: ½ teaspoon
8. Ground Cinnamon: ¼ teaspoon
9. Ground Cloves: ¼ teaspoon
10. Cayenne powder: ½  Tablespoon
11. Turmeric powder: ¼ teaspoon
12. Salt
13. Kasoori Patta (Dried Fenugreek seeds): 1 teaspoon
14. Tomato puree: ¾ Cup
15. Water: ½ cup

 

Method

Step 1: Grind Onions, Garlic and Ginger together.
Step 2: Heat a heavy bottom pan. Add Ghee. When hot, add ground onion, garlic ginger. Sauté till almost all the water is gone and onions start to get clear.
Step 3: Add spices 8 through 12. Sauté about two minutes.
Step 4: Add tomato puree, water and Kasoori Patta. Bring to a boil. Cook on medium for five minutes. Taste and adjust spices.
Step 5: Add fish. Let it simmer for five to ten minutes till done.
