Caloric level depends on age, gender, and physical activity

The figures are derived from the formulas EER (Estimated Energy Requirement) by Institute Of Medicine for median height and weight to keep a BMI of 21.5 for adult females, and 22.5 for adult males. For children and adolescents, more calories are needed. For adults, fewer calories are needed at older ages.
