How to Blanch Almonds?Blanching almonds is to remove the brown jacket (the skin) on the kernel, with minimum impact on the kernel The objective is to loosen the brown jacket for easy removal. Do not cook the kernels. Minimize the the amount of time the almonds are exposed to high temperature.
Ingredients1. Un-salted Un-roasted whole almonds: 1 pound
Method1. Bring water to boil 2. Add Almonds. 3. Let water come to a boil 4. Boil for 1 minute 5. Shut off heat. 6. Use a colander to drain out hot water. 7. Run cold water to cool down the almonds. 8. Remove the loosened skin.
