Calories and Nutrition
Human body needs energy to function. The measure of energy is Calorie. The amount of energy needed to function depends on the gender, age, activity level, the health itself of the person and even the type of food being consumed.
On average, an adult needs 17 to 18 calories per day per pound of body weight. Therefore, an 130-pound person needs 2,300 calories to maintain the weight. If one wants to lose weight, they must reduce the amount of calories consumed, and increase the rate of caloric consumption through exercise. The calories not used by the body are stored as fat.
