Cholay Paalak (Spinach and chickpeas) Curry in HurryCholay Paalak is made with canned chickpeas and canned spinach. This is my favorite under 30 minute quick and easy recipe. Once you will try it, I am sure you will make it again and again. It is similar to Chana Paalak, where Chana Dal and Paalak are used.
Ingredients1. Garbanzo beans: 1 can 2. Spinach leaf: 1 Can 3. Canola oil: 2 Tablespoon 4. Cumin seeds: ¼ teaspoon 5. Hurry Curry Powder: 1 teaspoon 7. Cayenne pepper: ¼ teaspoon 8. Amchoor: ¼ teaspoon
Method1. Open can Garbanzo beans. Drain, Rinse. Drain 2. Smash the beans with a fork. lightly. The beans should broken, NOT reduced to paste. Set aside 3. Open can of Spinach. Drain. Set aside 4. Heat Canola in a heavy bottom pan. 5. Add cumin seeds. Fry for 2 minutes. The cumin seeds will start turning brown. 6. Add Garbanzo beans from step 2. 7. Add curry powder, salt, pepper and Amchoor. 8. Stir and sauté. 9. Cook till most of the moisture is absorbed (about 3 minutes) 10. Add spinach from step 3. 11. Add water. Stir and fry on medium to high heat. You want to minimize water and make it oil shiny. It will take about 3 minutes. 12. Turn off heat. Let it rest about 5 minutes. |
