Home Remedies for Heartburn
The home remedies are based on alkaline food, potassium, and digestive enzymes.
Alkaline foods neutralize stomach acids.
Potassium neutralizes acid, strengthens LES between stomach and esophagus. Potassium bicarbonate is commonly used in many anti-acids as well as baking soda.
Alkaline foods just neutralize the acid forming gas quickly. The best example is Baking soda
Natural enzymes, and some acids help with the digestion process.

6 Blanched raw almonds
Do not use roasted or salted nuts. Chew Almonds thoroughly. Almonds and Hazel nuts are alkaline and help neutralize acid temporarily.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar + ½ cup of water + 1 Tablespoon of Honey (Optional for taste)
It can be any type of vinegar, Balsamic, Rice or even White distilled Vinegar. If the vinegar helps with heart burn, it means your stomach is not producing enough acid. It needs more acid for digesting food
One green apple cored and sliced
Alkaline food will help neutralize acid temporarily.
4. Baking Soda
½ teaspoon Baking Soda + ½ cup of water
Baking soda is the most common stomach acid neutralizer. However, ½ teaspoon Baking Soda contains about 658 mg of sodium. It should not be used by persons on sodium restricted diet.
Another effective stomach acid neutralizer is a combination of baking soda and cream of tartar
¼ teaspoon Baking Soda + ¼ teaspoon cream of Tartar + ½ cup of water
If you feel bloated, baking soda eases distension for short time

½ cup juice from raw cabbage + ½ cup of water

Eating Banana with Celery every two hours is more effective than either banana or the celery alone.
8. Chewing gum
Chew one stick of gum
Chewing gum helps produce saliva, a digestive enzyme. Do not use mint, peppermint, or spearmint gums.
One cup of Guava

11. Mustard (Prepared yellow mustard)
1 teaspoon mustard followed with ½ cup of water
Swallow the prepared mustard. You will feel burning as it goes down. Drink water. In a few minutes, the heartburn will disappear. If mustard helps you, you are not producing enough stomach acid to digest food.
One cup of un-ripened Papaya
Pregnant women should avoid un-ripened Papaya.
Papain is the natural enzyme to promote digestion. Papaya is also Alkaline help neutralize stomach acid.
Pineapple and Kiwi offer similar help
One cup baked potato without any trimmings.
Potato is high in potassium and lightly alkaline. Helps neutralize stomach acid.
Optionally, you may follow baked potato with light baking soda solution (¼ teaspoon Baking Soda + ½ cup of water). The combination works better than either potato or baking soda alone.
Chew ¼ cup of Raisins, follow with a cup of warm water.
