Indian foods bad for chronic heartburn

People suffering from chronic heartburn should avoid acidic foods, fried fruits, foods with high fat content, and trigger foods

 

1. Chocolate

2. Souring agents

Imli (tamarind), Lime (Nimboo), Amchoor, Amla (Gooseberry), Anardana

3. Refined Wheat flour (Maida) products

Do Not eat Maida products Cakes, Cookies, Biscuits, Breads made with Maida

4. Deep fried foods

Samosa, Pakora, Poori, Kachori, Mathri, Gulab Jamun

5. Pan/Griddle fried foods

Paratha, Sooji Halwa, Dosa, Cheela

6. Full fat dairy products

Khoya, Paneer, Milk, Rasgulla, Kalakand

Dahi (Yogurt with live culture) is acceptable

7. Citrus fruits

Orange, Sweet lime (Mosambi), Lime, Lemon, Amla (Gooseberry), Phalsa, Kamrak (star fruit), Sour Jamun (Ripe Jamun is good), Grapefruit (Chakotra)

8 Raw Vegetables

Tomatoes, Onions, Garlic, Peppermint

9. Condiments

Achar (Pickles) any type, Condiments with vinegar, ketchup

10. Spices

Ajwain (Carom), Cinnamon, Cloves, Nutmeg, Mustard seeds, Black pepper, White pepper, Cayenne pepper (Lal Mirchi)

11. Cooking Oils Fats

Vanaspati or Dalda Hydrogenated Coconut oil, Pasteurized Butter, Hard Margarine

12. Meats Poultry

Ground beef (hamburger, meatloaf), ground pork, Sausage, Ground Lamb, Ground Mutton, Ground chicken, Ground turkey. Do not eat processed lunch meats.

Eat skinless chicken or turkey, trimmed beef (Stew meat, or steaks), trimmed pork or ham. Only eat meats and poultry where you can see the muscle and its not ground up.
