Soy Protein Halwa Candy Healthy Recipe

This is a high protein, low saturated fat Halwa cakes. Its great for growing children for their muscle development.

Ingredients

Wet Mixture

1. Soft Tofu silken (12.3 oz package): 1
2. Unsweetened 100% Apple juice: ½ cup
3. Jaggery (Gur) or Dark brown sugar: ½ cup packed
4. Large Eggs, slightly beaten: 2
5. Almond Butter or Peanut Butter: ½ Cup and 3 Tablespoons

Dry Mix

1. Soy protein powder: 1 cup
2. Oat bran: ½ cup
3. Whole wheat flour: ½ cup
4. Wheat germ: ¼ cup
5. Salt: ½ teaspoon

Add-ins

1. Chopped nuts (Choice of one more nuts such as Almonds, Cashews, Walnut): 1 Cup

2. Chopped dried fruits (Choice one or more dried fruits such as Raisins, Apricots, Figs, Cherries): 1 Cup

 

Method

Step 1: Liquid Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk tofu till smooth. Add one ingredient at a time and whisk.

Step 2: Dry Mix

Combine items 1 through 5 in a mixing bowl.

Step 3: Dough

1. Add dry mix to Wet mixture. Combine well.

2. Stir in dried fruits and nuts

3. Transfer the ingredients to a non stick cookie pan (13x9). Spread out evenly.

Step 4: Baking

1. Pre-heat oven to 350º F

2. Bake for 35 minutes or till the internal temperature reaches 205º F. Shut off heat and remove the pan.
3. Let it cool to room temperature. With a sharp knife, cut it into candy bar shape, square, or diamonds.
