Char Magaz (Mewa) Candy Bar Healthy Recipe

Char Magaz is a combination of Almonds, Pumpkin seeds, Cantaloupe Seeds and Water melon seeds.

Nuts and dried fruits make a a nutritional snack that can be eaten as any candy bar. It is specially good for persons seeking to gain weight

 

Ingredients

Dry Mixture

1. Rolled oats: 2 cups
2. Sliced almonds: 1 cup
3. Watermelon seeds: ¼ cup
4. Cantaloupe seeds: ¼ Cup
5. Shelled pumpkin seeds: ¼ Cup
6. Wheat germ: ½ cup

 

Wet Mixture

1. Honey: ½  cup
2. Jaggery (Gur) or Dark brown sugar: ¼ cup packed
3. Unsalted butter (1 oz): ¼ stick

4. Pure Almond extract: 2 teaspoons
5. Kewra (Screwpine essence): 8 drops
6. Salt: ½  teaspoon

 

Add-ins

Chopped dried fruits (Choice one or more dried fruits such as Raisins, Apricots, Figs, Cherries): 2 Cups

 

Method

Step 1: Dry Mix

Preheat oven to 350º F. In a no-stick cookie sheet, add dry mix ingredients. Mix and spread out evenly. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Remove Dry mix. Turn off oven. Next time we will need it at 300º F

Step 2: Wet Mixture

In a glass bowl, add wet mixture ingredients. Microware on high for 45 second. Mix well.

Microwave on high for 20 second. Mix again.

Repeat this step if necessary till its is a warm paste.
Step 4: Once the Oat mixture is ready in step 1, turn down oven to 300º F.

Step 3: Baking

1. Make sure oven is on and the temperature is 300º F

2. Combine Dry mixture, Wet mixture, and chopped dried fruits. Place the mixture in a baking pan, press it down evenly.

3. Bake for 25 minutes at 300º F. Shut off heat and remove the pan.

4. Let it cool to room temperature. With a sharp knife, cut it into candy bar shape, square, or diamonds.

 

Yogi's Notes

1. You can substitute Moong Crunch for Rolled oats. Normally, Moong Crunch is already salted, therefore eliminate salt from the Liquid Mixture.
2. You may substitute Watermelon seeds or Cantaloupe seeds with pine nuts, broken cashews to your liking.
