What is a Weight Loss Plateau?

You start your diet. First two week you are smiling. You are losing a lot of weight. In reality, its only loss of water and carbohydrates (Glycogen).

You want to lose fat. After two weeks, you are losing fat at a steady rate every week. All of a sudden you ht the 'Weight Loss Plateau'. You have stopped losing weight. You are disappointed. You have two choices.

 

Stay the Course

Stay on your diet and exercise level. Weight Loss Plateau will pass in 4 to 6 weeks and you will start losing weight again. If you do not start to lose weight in 6 weeks, you have reached a new support level. You need to revise your calorie intake downward and increase the exercise level.

 

Confuse the system

You can try to confuse the system by alternating your calorie intake every 3 days between High Calorie Level, and Low Calorie level. You may do this for 18 days.

High Calorie Level is 15% higher than your current Calorie level. For 1,800 calories, it will be 1,800 + 270 = 2,070 Calories

Low Calorie Level is 15% lower  than your current Calorie level. For 1,800 calories, it will be 1,800 - 270 = 1,530 Calories
