What is Pathia?

Pathia is a popular curry served among Parsi population in India. Pathia is also called Patia

Parsi migrated to India from Persia about eight centuries ago and settled in Gujarat. Parsi cooking is a fusion of old Iranian and Gujarati cooking.

Pathia is prepared for special social functions such as birth or marriage. This is a sweet sour and spicy curry result of normal Gujarati curry spices added with Jaggery and lime juice. The spicy heat comes from fresh green hot chili peppers and dried red chili peppers. There is no ginger. Prawns, and Chicken are common meats used.
