How to store fresh Ginger? |
||
| Short term (Up to 15 days) Wrap fresh ginger in paper towels. Put the wrapped ginger in a zip-lock bag and store in the refrigerator. Long term (Up to 90 days) Ginger looks like palm of your hand. With a sharp knife separate the fingers. Transfer these ginger fingers in to a glass jar. Prepare lemon water, by adding one teaspoon of lemon juice to one cup of water. Pour the lemon water over the ginger just covering the ginger by about ¼" at the top. The acid in the lemon water will help the ginger from degrading. Some of the ginger flavor will be lost in the lemon water, therefore use lemon water just enough to immerse the ginger and barely topping it off. Secure the lid on the jar, and store it in the refrigerator. |
