'The Guinness Book of World Records' ranks 'Bhut Jolokia' as the hottest chili pepper in the world with SHU exceeding one million units. SHU for extremely hot Chili peppers exceeds 100,000.
Scoville method uses human tasters to determine parts of sugar needed to neutralize heat, and report it as SHU (Scoville Heat Unit). Modern method HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromotography) measures the Capsaicin in parts per million and back calculates the SHU.
Habanera and Scotch Bonnet are ranked same for same SHU. Bhut Jolokia from Assam is the same plant as 'Naga Morich' in Bangladesh. It explains the closenes of SHU ratings between Bhut Jolokia, and Dorset Naga which is created from Naga Morch.
