Roasting coffee beans at home is as easy as popping popcorn

You need a popcorn popper that will heat the beans to 400º F. When the beans reach 400º F, you will hear a cracking noise. It is called 'First Crack'. The cracking sound will stop. Continue roasting, you will hear the Second Crack. The oils from the beans will star coming out. The oil gives the beans a shining look. Stop the popper. Immediately, take out the beans and spread them out on a cookie sheet in a single layer. You want the beans to cool off as soon as possible. After they have reached room temperature, store them in an air tight container. The longer you roast, the darker the beans get.
