In general, Crockpot has a heating element that surrounds a pot made of crockery. The crockery pot is a removable insert. The surround heat enables even and faster cooking.

The slow cookers, have a heating element on the bottom. Sometimes, this can result in food sticking to the bottom requiring to stir to prevent scorching.
