Kachumbar RecipeKachumbar is a chopped salad made with onions tomatoes cucumbers Serrano and Cilantro
You may consider this as an Indian version of salad or relish. For salad, the vegetables are chopped fine and mixed together to let the flavors to blend. Finely chopped mean, chop about ¼" thick pieces. Dressing is normally put in a bottle with a cap. You shake too mix the ingredients, wire whisk was hardly used.
IngredientsSalad1. Onions finely chopped:2 2. Tomatoes (Roma or Plum variety) seeded finely chopped : 3 3. Cucumber peeled, seeded, finely chopped: 1 4. Serrano finely chopped: 2 Discard seeds and white membrane to reduce heat 5. Cilantro chopped: ½ cup Dressing1. Fresh Lime Juice: 2 Tablespoons 2. Salt: 1/8 teaspoon 3. Sugar: 1 teaspoon 4. Peanut oil: 1 teaspoon 5. Cayenne pepper ground: ½ teaspoon
MethodSaladMix all the ingredients. Let it rest in refrigerator about two hours or longer till ready to use. DressingMix the ingredients in a bowl. Whisk well. Let it rest for 2 hours at room temperature. It will allow all the spices to blend in |
