Green Tomato Chutney Recipe

Tomatoes in India resemble Plum tomatoes. The green tomato chutney is made from un-ripened Plum tomatoes

It should be easy if you have your own vegetable patch and you were growing Plum tomatoes.

 

Ingredients

Basic Phase

1. Green Apples: 2,  Peeled cored and cubed

2. Green tomatoes: 2 Pounds. Washed, cored and chopped

3. Onions chopped: ½ pound

4. Garlic: 2 Cloves peeled and chopped

5. Ginger: 1"x½" peeled, chopped
6. Salt: ½ teaspoon
7. Brown Sugar: 1½ Cup 
8. Vinegar: 2 Cup 
9. Cayenne ground: ½ teaspoon

Finishing Phase

1. Golden Raisin: ¾ Cup

 

Method

Basic Phase

1. Put all ingredients in a heavy bottom pan.

2. Turn on heat. Bring it to a boil

3. Turn down heat. Simmer on medium heat to 220º F or till desired consistency has been reached. About 25 minutes

Finishing phase

1. Add finish phase ingredients

2. Simmer for 5 minutes

3. Turn off heat. Let the chutney cool to room temperature.

4. Transfer to sterilized jar.

5. Store in a cool dry and dark place
