Spinach Peppers (10 months plus) Baby food Recipe

This is an excellent iron rich recipe for infants 10 months and up. The Spinach is high in iron, while high vitamin C makes the iron bioavailable. I have not added any salt in the recipe. I have added a tiny amount of red cayenne pepper powder for flavor.

Ingredients

1. Frozen Spinach (10oz): 1

2. Red Bell Pepper: 2

Sauté /Cook

3. Ghee: 2 Tablespoon

4. Turmeric Powder: ¾ teaspoon

5. Ginger powder: ½ teaspoon
6. Cumin Powder: 1 Tablespoon
7. Coriander Powder: 1 Tablespoon
8. Fenugreek Seed Powder: ½ teaspoon

9. Red Cayenne powder: Pinch

10. Water: ¾ Cup

Method

Step 1: Prepare vegetables

Spinach: Thaw and drain

Bell Peppers: Wash. Discard the white membrane and seeds. Chopped fine.

Step 2: Sauté / Cook

1. Heat Ghee in a heavy bottom pan.
2. Add powdered spices (ingredients 4 through9). Stir and sauté. Don't let it burn. Add little water, if it starts to burn.

3. Add water, spinach and bell peppers. Cover. Cook covered on low heat for 25 minutes.

4. Transfer the contents to food processor. Process to form puree.
