How to evaluate massage oils (Criteria)
There are fiur major considerations while choosing massage oil. 1. Massage oil must be edibleThe hands of infants are bound to be rubbed against massaged area and the thumb or finger wind up in the mouth of the infant. Most of the baby oils sold commercially are flavored mineral oils. These oils may be hypoallergenic, but they are not edible. Avoid mineral oilsUse Natural oils
2. Infant must not be allergic to the oilIf one or both the parents suffer from any allergies (Asthma, Hay fever, Eczema), the infant may be allergic to nuts, or seeds. Avoid nuts or seed oils if infant may be allergic.
3. Avoid know harsh oilsMustard oil has sulfur and may be harsh to infant's skin Essential oils may be harsh for infants
4. Choose oils that are easily absorbed.Oils should not be thick (for example sesame seed), or leave the skin oily (for example Ghee).
Preferred Massage Oils for InfantsFractionated coconut oil Grape seed oil Sweet Almond Oil Wheat germ oil. One teaspoon of wheat germ oil may be added to 2 Tablespoons of Grape seed oil or Sweet Almond oil
