Introducing cereals grains baby foodsCereals Grains to avoidWheat Roti remains the main staple in Indian Cuisine. However, we must avoid giving the Roti for first 12 months till the infant has developed the immune system. Avoid cereals and grains that contain high amount of Gluten for at least first 12 months of age. If one of the parent suffers from Asthma, Eczema, Hay fever, or Type I Diabetes (Celiac disease). The infant may be allergic resulting in: rashes, breathing difficulty. Infant may be intolerant to wheat resulting in Diarrhea, Anemia, Weight gain/loss
Starter Grains CerealsRice, Ragi, Bajra, Jowar, Buckwheat (Kuttu) are the least of the allergenic grains. In South India, Ragi is the most common starting cereal. In United States, Rice and Oats are common grains.
You can make Bajra Roti without salt (Roti - Bajra (Pearl Millet Flour)). Use a food processor in pulse mode to make crumbles. Then you mix crumbs with little water. Bring it to a boil.
