Baby Foods: 12 to 24 months old

Time to introduce finger foods, and some sensitive foods such as citric fruits, egg whites, cow's milk, leafy vegetables

 

Finally, the infant can eat Cholay and Naan!!!

 

Until now, we have avoided certain types of foods. Now, is the time to introduce most of those items. The peanuts, fish, and seafood may still have to wait. The following items should be added one per day for every two to three days.

 

1. Whole cow's milk will slowly replace the breast or infant formula by the time infant is 2 years old. How to wean infant off the breast milk?

 

2. Citric fruits can be introduce for example oranges


3. Leafy vegetables for example Spinach, Mustard greens

 

4. Egg whites. You may finally give the whole egg


5. Grains with gluten (Wheat)... The Chapati !!

 

6. Whole dried beans (Cholay, Mah Dal, Whole Mung Beans)


Baby is ready for foods eaten by parents except for salt, Vanaspati, and sugar laden desserts.

 

The hard foods such as  nuts, seeds, raw carrots, popcorn should still be avoided for fear of choking.

 

As the baby grows more teeth, more table foods can be enjoyed.
