Shilajit (Shilajatu) Asphaltum Punjabianum
Shilajit is an ancient Ayurveda medicine used as a Rasayana (Rejuvenating) substance to
support youthfull long lifespan.
Shilajit is type of a resin that oozes out from the cracks in the layers of the rocks on the Himalayan mountains
During summer, the temperature of the mount\tains gets warm, making the resin less viscous and flow. The resin
is light-brown to dark blackish brown. It is water-soluble. Shilajit contains
over 85 minerals in ionic form, Fulvic acid, Humic acid,
Hippuric acid, and Benzopyrones.

Historical Notes
According to Rig Veda, (Ancient text during Vedic period), 'Somarasa' was prepared from a
substance plucked from between the
rocks at the sacred at sacred cliff sides high in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal.
After Rig Feda,
Charak Samhita recognizes Soma to contain four minerals: Gold, Silver, Copper, and Iron. Susruta Samhita
recognizes two more minerals Lead and Zinc. According to Charak Samhita, Soma must be an ingredients of
all medicines to treat curable diseases.
The alchemists washed and cooked the raw Soma to prepare elixir of immortality for perfect body and mind.
The substance was kept secret and passed down from generation to generation among Indian and Nepali alchemists
and holy men (Yogi and Rishi) for centuries.
During British Raj near the end of twentieth century, a British explorer heard of this elixir of immortality.
He would journey various parts of India till he would find the source of the raw substance, 'Shilajit' used in making this
elixir. He would research and document his findings.
