Chyawanprash Ayurveda Anti-aging compound
Chyawanprash is the oldest Ayurveda anti-aging compound. It promotes rejuvenation, boost
immune system, boost metabolism, support lung and respiratory system. It is also
spelled as Chyavanaprasha.
The ingredients and use are described in Chikitsasthana (treatment) section of Charak Samhita
( an ancient Ayurveda treatise). The ancient formula has 48 ingredients. Nowadays, the ingredients vary from
28 to over 80 depending on the manufacturer. A list of ingredients might look like following:

Amla (Indian gooseberry) is the primary ingredient in the largest amount.
Amla berry has the highest concentration of Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) than any other natural plant. An average
berry has about 3,000 mg of Vitamin C. It contains high amounts of Tannins. It has some Glucose, Protein,
Cellulose and Calcium
Amla is classified as Rasayana (Rejuvenating) to promote longevity. Amla helps with appetite, digestion,
and treat constipation. It helps increase red blood cell count, reduce fever and cough. Amla promotes eye and
brain heath, and strengthen heart. Amla helps alleviate Asthma.
Ghee, Sesame oil, Honey, and Gur act as Anupan in the compound. Anupan provide the mechanism to
transport nutrients from the mixture to the tissues.
Chyawanprash is creamy smooth pasty compound. It can be spread like a jam. It can be given to
any person safely of any age or gender. It can aggravate Pitta, and should not be given to person suffering
from diarrhea or peptic ulcer. It should not be given
to a person having a breathing problem. |
