Millet Porridge Bajra Mehri Recipe

Mehri is a simple breakfast of Rajputs in Rajasthan. Traditional Bajra flour for this recipe used to be very coarse

I have adjusted the recipe for regular Bajra flour.

 

Ingredients

Presoak

1. Pearl Millet Flour (Bajra Atta): 1 Cup

2. Chach (Skim buttermilk with live culture): Cup

Cooking

3. Water: 3 Cups

4. Chach: 1 cup

5. Sugar: 2 Tablespoon

 

Method

Presoak

Mix Bajra Atta and Chach. Cover. Let it stand in a warm place from over night to 24 hours. The Butter milk will get sour.

Cooking

1. Bring water to a boil. Add the flour mixture. Stir. Cook on medium heat till it gets thick.

2. Stir in Chach and sugar. Bring it to a boil. Shut off heat. Let it stand 10 minutes. Serve
