Bread Crumbs RecipeTraditional bread crumbs are made by drying out day old bread in an oven or hot sun and then grinding them into coarse crumbs 1. Choose one loaf of firm white bread. Traditionally, two day old or stale bread is used. It should not be moldy 2. Arrange bread slices on a cookie sheet in a single layer. 3. Preheat oven to 250º F. 4. Bake bread for 20 minutes. 5. Let the bread cool. Snap it into small pieces by hand. 6. Put a few broken pieces about ½ cup at a time in electric blender or a food processor. Don't over process. You want very coarse crumbles. 7. Transfer to an airtight container and store in refrigerator for about 2 months or freeze for about 9 months. |
